Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura, from Matsubushi, Japan, who founded the Genbukan Ninpo Bugei organization, has decided that the main focus of his company will be to take inspiration from the stories and legends of the Japanese shadow warriors, the art of the Ninjas. The reason behind them being the inspiration is because of their impressive loyalty and their will and passion for working hard for being the best. In order to keep the integrity of the Japanese ninjas intact today, Grandmaser Tanemura has founded the Genbukan, to teach the way of these warriors and to spread their teachings far and wide. The institution was founded in November 1984. The Genbukan is wholly devoted to the actual and true portrayal, depiction and the study of the Ninja arts in a purely traditional Japanese manner.
The schedule of the Genbukan concentrated on the method of training of the Ninpo Sanjurokkei, which is basically 36 different zones of coaching, and which is composed of eighteen forms of Bugei Juhappan, which is traditional Japanese martial arts, along with eighteen forms of Ninpo, also known as Ninja Juhakei.
The Name “Genbukan”
Genbukan is defined as a place that helps increase the skill of martial arts professionals, a place that has been solely dedicated to the martial arts and that helps radiate an incredible aura of the arts. Gen also means black so the word Genbukan can also be translated as a place of darkness, of mystery and strangeness. The importance of this is that a person who is proficient in the Ninpo Bugei, brings light to this world and the metaphysical world of darkness, in our conscious and subconscious both. This can have a metaphorical meaning as the Ninpo Bugei, can bring solace and comfort to a troubled and dark mind, and help bring it up to a place of healing and happiness. Martial arts is not only about learning how to fight those enemies that you can physically see in front of you, but also those that reside inside of your head and that claw at your insecurities until they become huge issues. It teaches a person how to find peace within themselves and in their exterior environment.
The Name “Ninpo Bugei”
Ninpo Bugei, which is translated to mean Ninja, do not have nay one style of fighting or defending, they have no specific school of thought or training when it comes to their fighting techniques and mechanisms, or a Ryu-Ha. While they study all forms of martial arts methodology and techniques, all those styles need to be updated, and need further work done in them, for the ninjas to be called the masters of every fighting style and school.
There is no such thing as enough styles or methods of the martial arts as it can always be further developed, you can always push your body to a more perfect shape, contort it into such positions that small spaces do not remain a problem for you, increase flexibility to the level that you can bend any part of your body and can reach whatever your goal is.
